WASHINGTON — Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) joined Congresswoman Haley Stevens (D-MI) and their colleagues on a resolution condemning Hamas’ brutal terrorist attack on Israel and their unlawful taking of hostages. The resolution condemns Hamas’ brutal attack, condemns their holding and threatening of hostages, and demands Hamas immediately release all hostages.

“The murder and hostage-taking of innocent Israeli and American civilians by Hamas is horrific and unacceptable,” said Rep. Pressley. “Each person held by Hamas has a family pleading for their return. I join Congresswoman Stevens on this resolution that demands Hamas release these innocent hostages—from nine-month-old babies to elderly Holocaust survivors, parents, and children—and makes plain that we won’t stop pushing to bring them home. Saving innocent lives must be the priority.”

“Hamas holding innocent Israeli civilians hostage is the ultimate act of terrorism, this resolution recognizes these acts for what they are – abhorrent,” said Rep. Haley Stevens. “Holding civilians hostage is a violation of international humanitarian law and morally unconscionable. This bi-partisan resolution demands that Hamas release the innocent men, women, and children kidnapped and held. My heart and policymaking abilities are with the hostages and their families. We are committed to bringing those held safely home.
