I’m thinking of all the people who pose no threat to society & whose lives are deteriorating due to our mass incarceration crisis & unjust criminal legal system.
For the families harmed by mass incarceration, @POTUS must act.
Here’s my statement on his pardon this week.

Our smallest neighborhood businesses are the backbones of our communities.
They help us build community & boost our local economies.
This #SmallBusinessSaturday, I’m celebrating local small businesses in the #MA7 like Brother’s Kafé Kreyol in Everett.

The attack on our books and right to learn has been relentless.
Grateful for spaces like @justbook_ish in Dorchester that stand in the gap, center a community-focused mission, & help us push back against the silencing of voices.
It was a joy to celebrate their grand opening.

Mass incarceration is one of our country’s greatest failures—and it’s deeply personal to me.
@POTUS must use his clemency authority to confront mass incarceration, reunite families, & advance healing.
We must do everything in our power to save lives while we still can.

It’s always a joy to join Mrs. Shillingford and the team at Shirley’s Pantry for their annual Thanksgiving food drive.
Grateful for all they do to address food insecurity and keep our communities fed this holiday season and year-round.

No one should die because they were denied medical care while in custody.
My Andrew Kearse Accountability for Denial of Medical Care Act with @SenWarren would hold officers criminally accountable for denying care.
An important step toward a fair & just criminal legal system.

Republicans’ “anti-DEI” bill is a disgrace.
On one hand, it says that racism doesn’t exist. On the other hand, it says there’s rampant “reverse racism.”
This is the unserious work of the Republican Party.
P.S. they should keep MLK’s name out their mouth.

Clemency works. Clemency heals. Clemency saves lives.
With just over 60 days left in his presidency, @POTUS must use his clemency authority to confront mass incarceration & reunite families.
I joined @RepJamesClyburn, @RepMGS, @RepIlhan & our advocates to call him to do just that.

The Senate must approve @SenSanders’ Joint Resolutions of Disapproval to block the sales of offensive arms to the Israeli government.
I’ve met with doctors who tried to save Palestinian children shot in the head.
I’ve sat with moms who watched their babies burn & die slowly in Israeli air strikes.
Congress must enforce U.S. law.
