Adriana Smith should be here today. Her voice trusted, her medical crisis treated, her life saved, her dignity honored. But instead, her body was made an incubator for months following her death, her family denied the right to make personal medical decisions.

A Georgia abortion ban denied her basic medical care and robbed her of her dignity. I am heartbroken. I send my deepest condolences to her family as they navigate their grief and finally lay Adriana to rest, and I am holding her sons in my heart.

In Adriana’s name, we press for true reproductive freedom and a just America for Black mothers and their babies.
Because Trump is losing in the courts, Republicans are trying to change the rules to rig the system.

Tucked in the Big, Ugly bill is a provision that would restrict judiciary contempt proceedings from enforcing court orders & holding Admin. officials accountable.

This is textbook authoritarianism.
The targeted shootings of Minnesota Sen. John Hoffman, Rep. Melissa Hortman and their spouses - and the tragic deaths of Rep. Hortman and her husband—are horrifying.

Violence is unacceptable, no matter our differences, & must always be condemned.

I grieve for the victims and my heart goes out to their loving families, dedicated staff, and the communities who elected them to serve.
