Aysenur Ezgi Eygi should be alive today.

Instead, she was shot in the head and killed by the IDF while protesting Israel’s illegal occupation of the West Bank.

She was an American citizen. There must be accountability and a thorough, independent investigation.

My heart breaks for the murder of Hersch, Carmel, Eden, Ori, Almog and Alex. I`ve met with some of their families, their trauma is palpable, and I can`t imagine the grief they must be carrying today.

This conflict has gone on for far too long and diplomacy is the only path forward.

Only a ceasefire will bring the hostages safely home and every day without a deal risks their lives, the lives of Palestinians, and every innocent life in Gaza.

I pray for their families and I will never stop pressing our leaders to find the political will necessary to end this conflict and the death, destruction, and suffering that it has brought.⁩
