WASHINGTON – Following reporting on new allegations of sexual misconduct committed by Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) filed H.Res. 560, a resolution calling for an impeachment inquiry into Kavanaugh. As sexual assault is a crime, Congresswoman Pressley’s resolution calls on the House Judiciary Committee to open an investigation into Kavanaugh and his alleged history of sexual assault, which may include issuing subpoenas and obtaining affidavits and depositions. Last October, Kavanaugh was narrowly confirmed by the Senate to serve a lifetime appointment on the Supreme Court, despite sexual assault accusations from his neighbor Christine Blasey Ford and Yale classmate Deborah Ramirez.

“I believe Christine Blasey Ford. I believe Deborah Ramirez,” said Congresswoman Pressley. “It is our responsibility to collectively affirm the dignity and humanity of survivors. Sexual predators do not deserve a seat on the nation’s highest court and Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation process set a dangerous precedent. We must demand justice for survivors and hold Kavanaugh accountable for his actions.”
