Rep. Pressley Announces Congressional App Challenge Winners

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) today announced the winners of the 2021 Congressional App Challenge, an app competition for students in middle and high school.

“Congratulations to Boston University Academy’s Tanay Nambiar and Rohan Biju, the creators of the Ping App, for winning the Massachusetts 7th District’s Congressional App Challenge! Your visionary and important concept will help countless people navigate disaster flooding resources, and this recognition is well-deserved,” said Congresswoman Pressley.

The CAC was created because Congress recognized that STEM and computer-based skills are essential for economic growth and innovation and that the U.S. has been falling behind on these fronts. These are high-paying, high-demand jobs. To maintain American competitiveness, it’s crucial that the United States invests in its youth now and helps them acquire these valuable skills.  The CAC encourages students to pursue those skills and publicly recognizes them for their efforts. Acknowledging the racial, gendered, and other disparities in the tech sector, the CAC also focuses on inclusivity and accessibility for students from all backgrounds, including those traditionally underrepresented in tech.
