Rep. Pressley Statement on Boston Police Reform Task Force Recommendations
WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) issued the following statement on the recommendations put forward by the Boston Police Reform Task Force:
“The proposals offered by the Boston Police Reform Task Force are long overdue and represent a step toward increasing police accountability in Boston. These commonsense recommendations should serve as the floor that we will build upon going forward, and they must all be implemented together in order to be effective. “I encourage Mayor Walsh, the Boston City Council and the Massachusetts Legislature to move swiftly to implement these recommendations and codify them in law. “We will not be intimidated by the police union and other special interest groups, and we will not back down until we confront and root out the systemic racism plaguing policing in the Commonwealth and all across the country. The safety and trust of our community are at stake and I implore all of us to act with urgency and sustained focus on these deeply rooted systemic issues.”
