Pressley’s Statement on Trump Rescinding Funding Freeze Memo

Illegal and Unconstitutional Act by Trump Threatened to Harm Families in Massachusetts and Across the Country

BOSTON – Today, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) issued a statement on the Trump Administration withdrawing its harmful and illegal freeze on federal grants and loans.

“On Monday, Donald Trump attempted to unlawfully halt funding for critical services like Medicaid, SNAP, cancer research, and more. His cruel actions created chaos, misinformation, and genuine fear for people in the Massachusetts 7th and across this country. Federal funds impact everyone’s daily lives, from roads and bridges to schools and healthcare.

“We pressed back with every tool we have, and constituents and advocates shared their fears and concerns, demanding we do everything in our power to stop these cuts. Today, the White House rescinded the memo.

“Make no mistake, this Administration continues to exact harm, and we must stay vigilant. But this reversal reminds us that when we organize, mobilize, and center the people, we can win. I will never stop fighting to protect our communities and the essential government resources they rely on. It is clear that Project 2025 continues to be their roadmap and when they try to rip away the services our neighbors rely on, we will meet them in the courts, in the halls of Congress, and in our communities to fight back.”

Yesterday, Rep. Pressley issued a statement slamming the Trump Administration’s harmful and illegal federal funding freeze.
