BOSTON – Yesterday, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) and Senator Ed Markey (MA) joined First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and U.S. Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh in a visit to a job training program at the Eversource Station 99 to highlight Bunker Hill Community College’s (BHCC) partnership with Eversource and Utility Workers Union of America to provide job training opportunities to BHCC students.

Rep. Pressley, First Lady Biden, and Secretary Walsh met with students participating in a paid summer internship as a part of Bunker Hill Community College’s Electric Power Utility Technology Program.

“It was an honor to join the First Lady and Labor Secretary Walsh to meet with students from Bunker Hill Community College,” said Rep. Pressley. “Support for job training programs like these is critical to our community, to help students achieve their goals, to address our college affordability crisis, and create pathways to fair wage union jobs. I’m grateful to BHCC for their partnership with Eversource and UWUA in making these programs a reality.”

In May, Congresswoman Pressley visited Bunker Hill Community College to celebrate the $1,000,000 in federal community project funding she secured to expand the City of Boston’s Tuition-Free Community College program. Rep. Pressley was joined by Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, BHCC President Pam Eddinger, and BHCC students for a tour of BHCC and press conference to highlight how the funding will help address the college affordability crisis locally as she continues her calls for President Biden to cancel student debt.

Yesterday, Rep. Pressley welcomed the First Lady to the Massachusetts 7th and joined her at Home Base in Charlestown to visit military families, veterans, servicemembers, and clinicians as part of the White House’s Joining Forces initiative.
