Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley Announces Communications Staff Hires

WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) announced two additions, Ricardo A. Sánchez and Briana Blueitt, to her communications staff in Washington, DC. Sánchez will serve as Communications Director and Blueitt will serve as Communications Manager.

The two will work closely with George Flynn, the Congresswoman’s Press Secretary, who has been with the office since April 2019.

“I am thrilled to welcome Ricardo and Briana to our team,” said Congresswoman Pressley. “Our office aims to model what it is like to govern in close partnership with community and robust communication about our shared priorities is a critical piece of that work. I am confident that their experience and commitment to advancing progressive policy work and centering our most vulnerable communities will allow us to build on our ongoing work to serve the residents of the Massachusetts 7th during these challenging times.”

Ricardo A. Sánchez, Communications Director. Sánchez most recently served as a key member of Senator Elizabeth Warren’s communications team, with a brief stint supporting the Senator on the trail during her 2020 presidential campaign. Sánchez also worked as a Field Organizer on then-Councilor Pressley’s 2015 re-election campaign to the Boston City Council At-Large, as well as additional political campaigns at the state and local levels. Previously, he worked at the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation, where he advocated for increased funding for civil legal aid programs in the state. Sánchez is originally from East Boston, is a graduate of Boston Latin School, and holds a B.A. in Political Science from Boston College.

Briana Blueitt, Communications Manager. Blueitt joins the team after working on Senator Bernie Sanders’ 2020 presidential campaign, where she served as a Communications Associate and later, as a Senior Manager implementing strategy for the campaign’s surrogate/influencer program. Prior to this role, Blueitt worked in graphic design and communications consulting at Solidarity Strategies and interned in both the House and Senate with Congressman Paul Tonko and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. Blueitt, a San Antonio, Texas native, is a graduate of Hofstra University and holds a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Journalism.
